"Once you have a kid you'll never win an argument with your wife, because in the game of marriage, giving birth is a royal flush. Nothing trumps motherhood."

all by myself....

i did something today i never thought i'd have the courage, or even the heart to, ever.

i left dray at home with noel, while i ran out to shop.
eeeeks!

lest you call me an errant mom, let me just clarify, it was not to go gallivanting at some havoc clearance sale with my gal pals. rather it was an absolutely necessary trip to get all the things i forgot to yesterday, for my orders that are going to be delivered tomorrow.

and also, lest i be labelled dramatic, sure, i've left dray at home before while i run across to get snacks, withdraw cash, drop the mail...i even have made a quick drive to deliver a cake without dray tagging along.

but this is HUGE, people!

i left dray at home with noel while i ran out to kiddy palace at toa payoh, and THEN to plaza singapura. it was NOT an easy decision to make. but in the end, i figured it'll make things easier and cut the trip shorter if i went alone.

so...

expressed milk? check.
apple juice? check.
banana custard? check.
heinz biscuits? check.

leaving baby at home?
argh, priceless TOUGH!!!

i left when dray took his nap, and was really hoping to god i'd be done and home by the time he wakes up. but you never know, this boy takes five minute power naps sometimes!

so after nursing him and the instant dray passes out, i crept out of home and zipped my cute behind (hee hee) down to toa payoh. and then zoomed down to plaza singapura, and zapped my way home after.

oh my, it was the fastest shopping i've ever done in my entire female life!
and the entire time, i was constantly texting noel, it's a surprise i didn't drive him crazy.

"is he still asleep?"
"is he awake yet?"
"is everything okay?"
"you alright, sweetheart?"

and do you know what?

i missed dray so so much.
despite the fact that it was a rushed trip, it was actually also the loneliest time i had shopping, ever!
i couldn't wait to get home and see my precious son.
and guess what, call it perfect timing, but the munchkin got up just before i walked thru the door.

you know, i have always had utmost respect for working moms, and today just reinforces it.
phew. i don't think i'd be leaving dray at home with daddy again, for a long time to come.

i miss my little helper and shopping buddy too much!

You have no idea how much it hurts to leave my baby at home every day even if I only work half-day. Been reading your blog recently and sigh..I wanna stay with my baby all the time too but hey, if you gotta work, you gotta work. You are one lucky momma :)

like i said, i REALLY have respect for working moms. i can understand how difficult it is now, leaving baby, and going to the office...even trying to concentrate on work, while at the same time worrying abt how baby is doing at home.

i know one of my best gfs cried the first day she returned to work aft her maternity leave was over. she said she missed her boy so much.

i would never be able to go thru it i think. i'd be a mess!

working moms like yourself deserves all the respect and i hope the men in your lives respect and appreciate you amazing women as much as you guys deserve to be! *hugs*

Happy New Year!

heh...i was like that when Noel goes for his reservist. *blush* i'd sleep with his worn tshirt!

i can totally relate to how you're feeling. *hugs* you know, even when dray is asleep i miss him! i have to fight the urge to wake him!

well, like i said, total respect for working moms!!! i don think ppl have any idea the emotions a working mom goes thru. and the struggle of balancing new baby and work...sigh, suffice to say, we women should be worshipped! lol....

yeah, i do feel blessed being able to stay home and manage my so-called home business. but i guess there are its downsides. still, being able to stay with dray 24hrs beats the irregular income, the warped sleeping/working hours etc hands down! =)

take care now...stay the wonderful mom that you are, *waves* HELLO to your two darling boys!

SoulSearching:
are you serious??? =p

errr, i think for now, you win the title, babes! lol....

slow and steady Ann...when you get to the pt when he becomes a toddler who'll drive you crazy, you'll wish you have done this earlier. I support you to do this a little bit more, not just for yourself but for Noel too. Let the boys have some alone time together...it works great for them..really. :) and you'll have a really balanced family life.

you're right nellua...
i just gotta get used to expressing more often, heh...
i'm just so comfy with direct latching that i think tts part of the reason leaving dray alone with noel is difficult..

but the wheels of change are turning! =)
