our weekend

it was the husband's birthday on saturday, and because i know his mates will want to throw a birthday dinner for him on the day, i made special plans for our own celebration the day before. of course, i asked some of our close mates to join us as well, but in the end only william could make it, leaving it to the usual three and a half suspects. =)

it was nothing grand and glorious, i just decided to surprise him with the chocolate buffet at the fullerton, after dinner, as we had on many occasions wanted to give it a try (well, i have, with my girlfriends, but we haven't yet together). if not for the cable cars being out of operation, i would have planned a birthday dinner on board one, as we had for fit's birthday one year.

anyway, we had a delicious authentic thai dinner (at this awesome joint well-deserving of some mention, but will do so in time) at bencoolen street, after which we headed to the fullerton. of course, the husband was clueless of our destination, and upon walking into the grand lobby of the hotel, he of course had thought i had booked a room of some sort, and was panicking cos we had not packed an overnight bag. lol.

remember i said, after dinner? well, we made the grave mistake of coming to the buffet with our tummies half-full. there was only so much space left for dessert, what more a buffet! lol! we ate all that we could in the three hours we had, and believe you me, we left the hotel with chocolate up to our noses!

next time we come, i'm damn sure coming with an empty stomach!

we had wanted to end the night with some drinks at timbre arts house, and it was perfect timing that goodfellas were playing there that night too. but the joint was too packed for comfort, so we headed instead to this awful japanese joint (which we only realised after sitting our butts down) - for beers only for william and noel - at central clarke quay. its a wonder how the captain became a captain. his customer service was horrendous.

anyway, we couldn't stand the place, plus they were closing, so we walked - in the rain! yey! - to makansutra at the esplanade. it was raining, but there were no complaints, and i walked in the rain, barefooted, heels in hand, as far as i could. drayden was safe in noel's arms, under an umbrella. which i must add, was coupled with vehement protests along the way, cos the husband thinks a man with an umbrella is too gay. and oh yes, we bought the umbrella at a ridiculous price of $8 at boat quay.

you know what's nice about walking in the rain? your feet don't get dirty! i felt so free, i definitely wanna do this again soon. i'm ready for it, cos i've already got wellingtons and a raincoat for dray (not with this in mind though, i just saw them on eBay and thought they were cute! well, a story for another entry!)

me: drayden, look at the camera! smile!

the actual birthday was spent with a huge and festive dinner at the restaurant up the road with nearly twenty people, and then drinks and some awesome music at timbre substation by the goodfellas. we even managed to squeeze in some quick shopping at mustaffa's thereafter and an enjoyable supper later with dina and nal.

the wrestling belt is the husband's present from his mates.

i hope the husband had a good one this year.
